WAYS TO CONVERT YOUR SOCIAL MEIDA FOLLOWING TO PAYING CLIENTS

As a spray tan artist (or really business owner in general), building a following on social media is essential, but turning those followers into paying clients is where your business will truly thrive. While a large follower count looks nice to the eye, it’s the quality of your engagement and the strategies you use that can transform casual likes into bookings. By leveraging the power of social proof, personalized interactions, and irresistible offers, you can convert your social media audience into loyal clients eager to experience one of your tans.

Below are some of my biggest and most effective tips when it comes to this- trust me, they work and they are super easy.

  1. Show your face and humanize your business. Anyone can post a tan line photo, a new promo, or explain what a spray tan is and how it works… But no one is you and that is a power that you have to set yourself apart among the rest. I challenge you to talk on your stories more often, show off and speak about a new retail product, give a studio tour, show a little glimpse into your day- get creative. The more that you are able to let your personality shine, the more of an impression you are able to make. This is an amazing way to build trust/connection with people that you have never met and I can assure you that the payoff long term, will surprise you. The amount of new clients I have had that have said ‘I feel like I know you’ or ‘how are your dogs?’ Proves this to be true! If you are uncomfortable with speaking on camera, know that we all start somewhere. It gets easier and soon- it is second nature. Don’t take yourself too seriously and have fun with it! (If you have employees, include them in the mix!)

2. Send an exclusive limited time discount promo to people in your area who are following you, but have yet to book an appointment with you. This is also a great way to introduce yourself and ‘slide into the DMs’ keep it short, simple, sweet, and to the point. A good example of a promo would be $5-10 off until X date!

3. Have a straightforward Instagram bio that includes what you do, what makes you special, where you are located, and of course a simple way to book (booking link!, we are in a time where people love the convenience of online scheduling vs. having to call/email and wait for a reply). As a spray tan solution line- we follow mainly spray tan artists, unfortunately, MANY artists have this simple information missing from their profile- which could in turn lose a lot of business!

4. Audit your social media profile from an outside perspective (this can be hard to do.) Ask yourself these questions: Would you book with you, if you didn’t know you? Ultimately, your profile is your portfolio and directly represents your business and your brand. Share your best work and what you want people to see :) Don’t love what you are seeing? It is never to late to switch things up to something that you are proud of. We all start somewhere. The number of times that I have completely pivoted my branding over the years… too many times to count. As business owners we are always evolving and that is a good thing!

5. Share client reviews, encourage current clients to tag your business in stories/tan photos, etc. These are all examples of social proof and will entice your followers to want to experience the same!

6. Be inviting of new clients! Many business owners gear their posts to current clients, rather than those who are spectating… I love to do posts or videos about ‘what to expect when you come in/book a spray tan’, that I love seeing new names on my schedule, and so on. Get creative with it- this will get them excited and have them feeling less anxiety/uncertain about what to expect :)

Remember that any strategies (especially with social media) take consistency! Be mindful and most importantly… have fun with it! Good luck!
